Helping Teens Cope with Grief

Loss and death impact all of us. Teenaged children are a special case when it comes to this. A few things to consider when helping a teen cope with the loss of a loved on or a friend:
- Know what are common actions and reactions for your teen. How a young teen (13) might respond is most likely different that how a 17-year-old will respond.
- Watch and listen to them. Look for opportunities to interact with them and help them.
- Don’t force a teen to talk. They’ll talk when they are ready.
- Make time to talk and when they do decide to talk, give them your undivided attention.

New Crematory

We are proud to announce the opening of our newly completed cremation center that houses our second state-of-the-art crematory retort. This new machine adds additional identification procedures requiring our certified crematory operators to scan bar codes before the machine can be operated. Bar codes are assigned to a family’s loved one’s cremation permits and paperwork, then a second scan verifies the bar code assigned when the body is brought to our facility.
Our cremation center also allows for a family to comfortably witness the start of the cremation process in our witnessing room. If for personal or religious reasons a family wishes to start the cremation process they may do so by operating these controls on the interior of the witnessing room.
At Local Cremation our goal is to offer complete cremation service by owning our crematory and personally coming to the home, hospital or nursing home. We keep our expenses low so we can pass on savings to families, while bringing comfort and reassurance to them. Obtaining Authorization to Cremate

We obtain documents required prior to cremation, including:
- A signed Death Certificate by the attending physician or hospice medical director
- A Burial Transit Permit issued by the city or county where the death occurred
- A signed Authorization To Cremate by the legal next of kin. (The order of precedence for legal next of kin is: spouse, all natural children over 18, parents, siblings, cousins)
- A Permit For Cremation from the office of either the Medical Examiner or Justice of the Peace
Our prices range from $795 for a simple, direct cremation, to $1495 for a customized, fully staffed memorial service. We also offer a full traditional service followed by cremation for $3395, including a casket and 2 hours of viewing prior to the funeral service.

Embalming is not required by law. Most funeral homes require embalming only if there is to be a public viewing. If there are family members, friends or loved ones who did not get an opportunity to say goodbye, a time for a small, private viewing with no requirement for embalming can be scheduled.
